Blackwork

Blackwork was traditionally worked in black thread on white fabric. It is a counted thread embroidery which I generally work on Aida. I often work from photographs and love the black-and-white effect. However, I have also experimented with colour, although generally in a very restrained way. I have worked quite a few pieces on black fabric, but these don’t photograph well.
